Located to the northwest of Paris, the state forest of St Germain en Laye, a real green lung, covers an area of 3,540 hectares. It is the second largest forest in Yvelines after the Rambouillet forest.

Its three million annual visitors enjoy its paths and its impressive historical heritage: castles, oratories and majestic star-shaped crossroads. It's an ideal place to get away from it all by bike, on foot or on horseback.

- Malmaison Castle The castle, which was once the private residence of Napoleon Bonaparte and Josephine, now welcomes visitors to discover its refined preserved interiors and temporary exhibitions.
Open every day except Tuesday.

- Monte Cristo Castle : (re)discover the life of Alexandre Dumas in this castle on the hill of Port-Marly. On the programme: a free walk, a guided tour or a tour with theatrical interventions.
From 1 March to 30 June and from 1 September to 1 November inclusive

- Palace of Versailles Discover the park, the famous Hall of Mirrors and the fascinating collections of the Palace of Versailles.
The Château is open every day except Monday. The Château opens at 9am; the Trianon estate opens at noon, from Tuesday to Sunday.

- Maisons-Laffitte Castle This architectural masterpiece of the Grand Siècle, considered one of the most beautiful residences of its time, was owned by the Count of Artois, brother of Louis XVI and future Charles X, by Marshal Lannes and then by the banker Jacques Laffitte.
From 16 May to 15 September: 10am - 12.30pm / 2pm - 6pm. From 16 September to 15 May: 10am - 12.30pm / 2pm - 5pm. Closed on 1 January, 1 May and 25 December and on Tuesdays.
